Asylum and migration: policy and practice in the EU accession countries

A conference examining asylum and migration implications of the recent EU expansion (considering policies and practices of sending, receiving and transit states) took place in Prague, 5-6 June 2004. It was jointly organised by the Czech Helsinki Committee in Prague, the Human Rights Education Centre at Charles University in Prague and the RSC, within the framework of the 'Hybrid information delivery for academics and practitioners in the field of forced migration in central and eastern Europe' project funded by the European Union. New on Forced Migration Online

Recent launches include new thematic research guides on 'Public Health' and 'Reproductive Health', revised resource pages on 'Emergencies' and 'Torture' and a new resource page on 'Return of IDPs' to complement FMR 21. Regional research guides have been launched for Egypt, Ethiopia and Western Sahara. The latter is accompanied by the launch of a collection of photographs by the author, Danielle Van Brunt Smith, portraying life in the Saharawi refugee camps. See www.forcedmigration.org/
