Muchos menores afganos que habían salido de Afganistán en dirección a Occidente pero que fueron repatriados forzosamente siguen interesados en volver a partir, pese a los retos a los que tuvieron que hacer frente durante sus viajes. El arresto y la deportación son comunes para los jóvenes que intentan migrar sin compañía, y los que son obligados a regresar a Afganistán se enfrentan al problema de tener que devolver a sus familias el dinero que les prestaron para costearse el viaje inicial. Su reintegración puede verse entorpecida al ser vistos por la comunidad como fracasados, en especial cuando les reunieron los recursos para costear el viaje. La comunidad que una vez les animó a emprender una migración no acompañada al extranjero es la misma que menosprecia los esfuerzos realizados por los menores no acompañados que intentaron migrar.<\/p>\n

“Se burlan de nosotros y nos dicen que otros niños que eran más pequeños consiguieron llegar a su destino pero nosotros no. […] Se creen que es fácil hacer un viaje en el que no vas acompañado. Desconocen sus riesgos y dificultades” <\/em>(Ghulam, 18 años, Nangajar).<\/p>\n

Muchos jóvenes creen que un segundo intento sería más fácil y están más decididos que nunca a volver a intentarlo; desean conseguir un empleo, disfrutar de una relativa libertad y poder acceder a servicios como la educación como compensación a los riesgos que saben que van a correr.<\/p>\n
